Vietnam has a long history full of war, colonization and rebellion. It was ever occupied by China, French, Japan and had a bloody war against America. Due to such a long history, Vietnamese culture is heavily influenced by that of Southern China and has also absorbed cultural elements from French and its neighboring Hindu civilizations. Though the American Vietnamese war is extremely brutal in its history, many young Vietnamese aspire to American culture and they welcome American tourists friendly.
